I went to Alia last night. Alia is a bar on Gertrude Street in Collingwood. And because I went to Alia, I now feel like talking about hair product. For those who aren't in the know - which would mean most of you reading this - hair product is a main topic of conversation in the Alia women's toilets.
I used to use gel in my hair. As I grew older, I grew to dislike that hard, crunchy feel to gelled hair yet I was still quite partial to the shiny look. So I moved on to a moulding cream. While I still got a crunchy result, it wasn't as hard as the gel.
Next came fudge. I think everyone's had a fudge experience. That was alright and smelled nice but fudge is not kind to dark hair and leaves a dandruff effect. Fudge wax... well really, who has time to emulsify the wax, let alone deal with the gross feeling on your hand everytime you touch your hair?
I may quite possibly have gone back to gel at this stage.
These days, I have a variety of hair product. I prefer using American Crew Fibre but once the hair gets a bit longer, the fibre doesn't really do much. So when the hair gets longer, or when I need it to stay styled for those extra few hours, I use D:Fi. i also have a moulding creme which I'm not particularly fond of because it's a bit too waxy for my liking.
